The AXIS Q8641-E (8.3 fps version) is a high-performance thermal positioning camera designed for long-range perimeter protection and critical infrastructure monitoring. Because it is a thermal camera, it detects heat rather than light, allowing it to “see” through total darkness, smoke, haze, and light fog.
The 8.3 fps (frames per second) version is specifically designed for regions with strict export controls on high-frame-rate thermal imaging, while still providing the same detection range and clarity as the 30 fps model.
-
Long-Range Detection: The 35mm fixed lens provides a narrow 10.7° field of view, allowing it to detect a human at approximately 1,000 meters and a vehicle at over 3,000 meters.
-
Responsive Positioning: Mounted on a high-speed Pan-Tilt (PT) motor, it offers a 360° endless pan and a 135° tilt (from ground to sky). It can move as slowly as 0.05°/s for precision tracking or as fast as 120°/s to respond to alerts.
-
Thermal Image Quality: Features a 384 x 288 resolution sensor. Axis enhances this with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) to keep the footage steady even when the camera is mounted on a tall, wind-blown pole.
-
Bandwidth Efficiency: Uses Axis Zipstream technology to analyze the thermal stream and compress unimportant background areas, significantly reducing storage needs without losing critical detail on moving targets.
